E9 7QL / 1H
1H - LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
Site-specific intervention
The Enterprise House is a building in the city of London UK , located in the neighborhood of Hackney, that has been reoriented from an ammunition factory to a textile factory, to move into studios and living spaces. It will host E9 7QL / 1H, a group exhibition on the 1H plan, currently a construction site.
Following the constant process of transformation of the Enterprise House, Flat 1H has been demolished to be redesigned in its latest form. Before construction begins, a selection of artists have come together to showcase works and evolve the space once again. The initiative proposes an environment suitable for experiments.
This exhibition is part of a series of interventions in the construction sites as an observation and reflection on the process of transformation of a city.
My site-specific intervention consisted in using only the materials found from the demolition process . The proposal is based on a reflection on the painting of German Romanticism, in particular Caspar David Friederich, and the genre of Landscape.
Following the architectural layout of the site, the result is a site-specific installation that activates the space of memory and coexistence among the visitors of the exhibition.
During the exhibition period, the result was a space occupied by the visitors, where the work of art was appropriated as a space for gathering.
